CHAIR OF ADVISORY BOARD

Air Chief Marshal Sir Angus Houston AK, AFC (Ret’d) was awarded the Knight of the Order of Australia in January 2015 for extraordinary and pre-eminent achievement and merit in service to Australia, through distinguished service in the Australian Defence Force, continued commitment to serve the nation in leadership roles, particularly the national responses to the MH370 and MH17 disasters, and in a variety of roles in the community.

Sir Angus was Chief of the Australian Defence Force from 2005-2011. He was served as Chief of the Australian Air Force from 2001-2005. He retired from the military in 2011 after 41 years of service.

In August 2022 Sir Angus was appointed by the Prime Minister to co-lead the Defence Strategic Review for the Government.

Sir Angus is Chair of the Murray Darling Basin Authority, Chancellor for the University of the Sunshine Coast and Chair of the Canberra Symphony Orchestra.

While undertaking the Defence Strategic Review, Sir Angus has temporarily stood aside from some roles, including as Chair of the Supashock Advisory Board.

In addition to his many board roles, he is the Ambassador/Patron of numerous charitable organisations including several mental health organisations.

Armin Papperger has been Chairman of the Management Board Defence at Rheinmetall AG since 1 January 2012.

After graduating in Engineering, Papperger began his career in 1990 in quality management in the Rheinmetall Defence Group. From 2001 on, he was managing director of various Defence subsidiaries. In early 2010, he took on responsibility for both the Vehicle Systems and the Weapon and Munitions division on the Management Board Defence.

Mark Skaife is confirmed as being the most credentialed driver in the history of Australian motorsport. Mark’s deep connection with General Motors in Australia has been pivotal to Supashock’s continued growth and success in the Australian OEM sector. Mark was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in 2004, for his dedication to charity work and service in the Motor Racing industry.

Dr Neil Bryans was Deputy Chief Defence Scientist and Head of Defence Science and Technology (DST) Group Edinburgh. Following his retirement from DST Group he was appointed to the Defence SA Advisory Board completing four years of membership in 2017.  Neil is a member of the Supashock Advisory Board and Chairs the Supashock Research and Innovation Committee.

Len Piro was Executive Director of the Department of State Development, and CEO of the South Australian Automotive Transformation Taskforce (Retired). He has conducted his own business consultancy over the past 4 years and serves on several boards and provides advice on business planning and manufacturing strategies.
